Envision access to high speed communication networks, advanced computing, massive storage capacity and portals that could be seamlessly navigated, providing end-users with access to national collections of research data and analytic support.
Think of how that advanced platform would facilitate the sharing and analysis of data and foster opportunities for productive collaboration among researchers, students, and industry — both within Canada and the global community.
With many of the essential pieces already in place, Canada has the potential to realize this vision. Canadian researchers, students and industry currently have access to significant investments in R&D, extensive computing capabilities, ultra-high capacity networks, data management and storage, and highly trained personnel to manage the system.
A coordinated, national approach to advanced digital infrastructure is now needed to ensure that Canada can continue to leverage its achievements in this area and remain competitive on a global scale.
